Following YOUR Path - Motivational Lyrics

There are many things that motivate us to do more, to overcome, to help or to simply be better people.

One of the most powerful motivators, for me, is music.

Not just the chords, the pounding drums or a catchy rhythm - although that's a piece of it.

I'm talking about the lyrics that lay on top of the music.

The words that offer hope, encourage the listener take a chance, give direction, or inspire you to run one more mile.

I'm talking about the stories that unfold within a song that wake you up to possibility, and urge you to take action.

One of my favorites, and I have many, from years ago - that really made me think
about my life and where I was going - was Time by Pink Floyd. If this isn't enough to wake someone up, I'm not sure what is:

Ticking away the moments
That make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours
in an off-hand way

Kicking around on a piece of ground
In your home town
Waiting for someone or something
To show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine
Staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long
And there is time to kill today

And then the one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun

Many people are simply waiting for someone or something to show them the way. In the mean time, opportunity, time and life is slipping away.

Don't let another day get behind you!!!! Take Action.

What lyrics have motivated you to do more or take a chance or simply helped you to cope with the ups and downs of this crazy game of life?? Share it here and inspire others!! Don't be shy!!!!!

  1. Well, one of my fav songs that started as the "theme song" for a trip I took with my parents when I was 12 for 6 weeks all over this country from shore to shore. His Dream? Build a Street Rod from the ground up, camp cross country with his family and finally put the wheels of the car in the Pacific Ocean. We jumped into the beautiful car built totally by Dad, a 1927 Sedan towing a tent camper and away we went.

Now...that happened to be the summer in the 70's of the "gas crisis" where lines were an everyday thing and sometimes you were only allowed a couple gallons at a time. Somehow we made it and at almost 46 I remember so much of that wonderful, magical trip.

Back to the song...our Theme song was a popular song at the time called Do it Or Die - and every time it came on the radio the "Bryan Family Singers" belted it out together. The song means a lot to me. Especially now.

Being a jewelry designer, or any type of artists, our hands are pretty important. I had, what I thought was arthritis and a bit of neuropathy in my hand for over a year, which I believed jewelry making helped. Two weeks ago BAM shocking nerve pain and just pain...which was never a problem. Long story short, went to the doc, had 3 different tests and the answer among three docs is.....surgery! I am a bit shocked, a little scared and yet VERY hopeful that my hand will be even better and I will be able to continue on in the crazy Etsy universe. My personal life in the past 6 to 8 months has been....tough from stomach bugs to anti biotic resistant strep to computer issues thought fixed to a dead computer, get a "new" one from the parents rededicate myself to the Buffalo Etsian Board, my site and working on my jewelry and...well of course this happened.

I am surprisingly ok with this. Not sure why. I'll call my surgical referral Monday, and get a move on and than...move on.

I don't know why but this song, Atlanta Rhythm sections "Do it or Die" keeps coming into my head and all at once makes me reminisce to a much simpler time with my wonderful family, makes me cry and yet makes me feel so STRONG....lets me know that no matter what...its all gonna be ok!!

Don't let your troubles make you cry
Don't waste a moment wondering why
    When everything goes wrong
You have to go on and do it or die

Do it or die now, stand your ground
Don't let your bad breaks go gettin' you down
Even when times get rough and you've had enough
You still gotta try (that's right)

Do it no matter what the people say (no matter)
They don't even know you (They don't know you at all)
I'd die before you let them stand in your way
(Don't you know that) You should know that

Life is a gamble all along
Winners are losers who keep rollin' on
So go on and roll the dice, you only live twice
    Do it or die

Do it no matter what the people say (no matter)
They don't even know you (They don't know you at all)
I'd die before you let them stand in your way
(Don't you know that) I know that (You know that)

Life is a gamble all along
Winners are losers who keep rollin' on
Just go on and roll the dice, you only live twice
    So do it or die

You got nothing to to lose
Just go on and roll the dice, you only live twice
    Do it or die

Long reply, I know, but Al said don't be shy so...there it is!!
My best to you all, as always....
    Just rolling the dice...
    Tracy
